Florence, Italy

Duomo -- While the cathedral was first built in the 14th century, the front façade as it stands today was actually constructed between 1871 and 1887, under the direction of Florentine architect Emilio De Fabris.  Great care was taken to create a style that harmoniously reflected the Duomo's celebrated history over the past five centuries.
