Peel Forest -- Safe, for now,
from the suburban sprawl of Christchurch and the tamed farmlands, Peel
Forest is a sliver of rain forest on a hill 100km west of the city centre,
disturbed only by a few cottages and the meandering tracks, or paths. The chorus of birdsongs here is impressive: at least ten different species vie for one's ears. So close to the pastures as it is, the high avian trills are frequently heard in counterpoint with the bellowing of cattle. This photo is taken with the Nikon D100 digital SLR and the Nikon f/2.8 20mm D lens. |
