Milford Sound, New Zealand

Tranquil waters -- This "good" weather is an anomaly for the temperate rain forests of Milford Sound. Without rain every other day, the hanging mosses and ferns immediately shrivel and wither.

So long as the rains return tomorrow, though, it would not bother my overnight stay aboard the aptly named MV Friendship. No, not at all.

After a generous breakfast, the eleven passengers got a chance to do some paddling on the same calm, glassy waters that gave them such a good rest the night before.

These photos were taken with a Nikon CoolPix 5200 set at 7.8mm.
