The Sunken Garden -- This is the
classic view of one of the world's most famous gardens, created from the
depression of Mr Butchart's limestone quarry. The limestone paths as well as a
preserved mill smokestack (not shown) remind the visitors of this enchanted
place's grittier past. To maintain the appearance of a private garden that
it is since 1904, much of the garden's dazzling flora remains unlabeled, prompting
the astute visitor to consult the complimentary flower guide.
